Dr. Lela Pickett

Dr. Lela Pickett earned her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Cleveland State University, M.S. in Counseling Psychology from the University of Kentucky, and graduated summa cum laude from Texas State University. She has also received training and provided services at a wide range of clinical settings, including community mental health agencies, substance abuse treatment programs, and university counseling centers at Oberlin College, Cleveland State University, University of Cincinnati, and University of Akron.
She provides a collaborative, supportive therapeutic space for her clients. She has expertise in treating anxiety, depression, eating disorders, ADHD, and relationship concerns, with particular experience in identity development, multicultural issues, trauma work, and LGBTQ+ concerns. Her therapeutic approach is strengths-based and evidence-informed, drawing from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and interpersonal and mindfulness-based interventions. Dr. Pickett emphasizes emotional flexibility, self-understanding, and practical coping skills, helping clients develop tools they can use both in and outside of therapy
